APIs and Excipient Synthesis Research Section

The Bangladeshi pharmaceutical industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country, contributing around 2% to GDP. The industry primarily focuses on manufacturing drugs using imported pharmaceutical raw materials (APIs). Approximately 99.5% of APIs used in the Bangladeshi pharmaceutical industry are imported, with only a few local (mostly first-tier) companies producing APIs, which is far less than the total demand. This section aims to conduct research on API synthesis to reduce reliance on imported APIs for drug manufacturing.

Bioactive Molecule Synthesis Section

The primary objective of this section is to synthesize a large quantity of Bioactive Molecules derived from various sources such as medicinal plants, marine algae and sponges, fungi, lichens, etc., with the goal of converting these Drug Leads into drugs and evaluating their specific efficacy in animal models and the human body.

Nano Particle Synthesis Section

Ultra-small carrier molecules can be synthesized for the controlled delivery of drugs in the body. Additionally, the synthesis of ultra-small metallic magnetic materials (magnetic nanoparticles) is also important for purification of important DNA, RNA, or proteins that can be used in vaccines or antibody therapy. Nanotechnology synthesis plays a crucial role in carrying out research work in this regard.
